(45) Shani Eltachan (שני אלטחן) - Quora: Read poetry. Word choice, brevity, and pacing are maximized in short form writing - poets as a general class of people tend to be obsessive about crafting the quality of their language and their thoughts. This will sharpen up your quality very, very fast.
As an example, go to a bookstore and pick up a Margaret Atwood book, such as Year of the Flood. Atwood is primarily a poet. Read a page or two, then go read a James Patterson book. The difference in the quality of writing is the amount of poetry in the brain - and work ethic - of each writer.
