gottagetdrunkfirst
gottagetdrunkfirst: In a state of tranquility, wealth, and luxury, our descendants would forget the arts of war and the noble activity and zeal which made their ancestors invincible. Every art of corruption would be employed to loosen the bond of union which renders our resistance formidable. When the spirit of liberty, which now animates our hearts and gives success to our arms, is extinct, our numbers will accelerate our ruin and render us easier victims to tyranny. If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom—go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen! - Samuel Adams

.... At the time of Washington's death in 1799, 317 slaves lived at Mount Vernon: 123 were owned by Washington himself, 154 were held by his wife as "dower slaves", and 40 others were rented from a neighbor. Washington's will provided for all of his slaves to be freed upon the death of his widow, but she chose to free them about 12 months after his death. The will also provided for the training of the younger former-slaves in useful skills and for the creation of an old-age pension fund for the older ones. - - George Washington

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on Notes on Love and Death
AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on Notes on Love and Death: I've never dared to comment on your blog before, but I've been reading you for years. Thanks for the beautiful writing and sharing of your life's journey, in part. Have you ever read The Four Loves, by C.S. Lewis? Seems you'd find some common ground there. May you be blessed with years more of good health and worthwhile journeying.

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on Notes on Love and Death: And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
And, so ...
At the end of life, three things remain: faith, hope and love. The reason love is the greatest is because it is the only thing that will extend beyond the grave. (Who needs faith after he sees God and who needs hope after he's obtained the prize?) God Himself is love and spiritual love is eternal.
If all our love is given to things carnal, we will certainly fear death and the end of all we love. God intends that we develop a love for things eternal in this life. If we accomplish that we have much to look forward at the end.
This is what my mind understands, but my spirit struggles mightily to fulfil.

Thought Police: Firms must swear ObamaCare not a factor in firings | Fox News: Putin is a reminder not just of our dark past, where raw force, not morality, adjudicated behavior, but, more worrisome, perhaps of a dark future as well… He ends up existing to warn us in the West of what we are not, and to demonstrate that in a strange sort of way our loud principles without toughness are not much better than his toughness without principles. In that regard, he gives us a valuable look into ourselves – we the hollow men, the stuffed men of dry voices and whispers.”

America was built on a belief in God, and there’s just no way to deny that fact | The Matt Walsh Blog
The country was founded on a belief in a creator God and has OFFICIALLY endorsed
the concept from the very beginning. That is the reality. It is not
really up for debate. You may wish to turn America into something else,
but do not pretend that you are turning it into what it was always
designed to be. Have the courage of your convictions. Make your case for
an Atheist America, but do not stand there and tell me that America has
always been atheist.
The evidence against you is staggering:
-Five mentions of God in The Declaration of Independence.
-In God we trust – the motto found in the National Anthem and on coins dating as far back as 1860.
-The Continental Congress issuing the first national proclamation of thanksgiving to God.
-The Continental Congress calling for national repentance of sins.
-Church services being held inside the Capitol Building during the time of the Founders.
-The President swearing in on a Bible. (This is not required, but
it’s a custom many have followed. George Washington kissed a Bible
after swearing his oath.)
-Swearing on a Bible in court, “so help you God.”
-Federal Oaths that require federal officials to say “so help me God.”
-The Chaplain of the United States Senate.
-Every Senate session beginning with a prayer.
-“It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of
Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and
humbly to implore His protection and favor.” – George Washington.
-“You do well to wish to learn our arts and ways of life, and
above all, the religion of Jesus Christ. These will make you a greater
and happier people than you are. Congress will do every thing they can to assist you in this wise intention…” – George Washington’s speech to the Delaware Indian Chiefs.
-“The Declaration of Independence laid the cornerstone of human
government upon the first precepts of Christianity.” – John Adams
The list goes on and on.
Two can play at the “Founding Fathers religion quotes” game, I
realize. I’m sure hundreds of secularists are busily Googling “Thomas
Jefferson anti-religion quotes” as we speak. It’s true that some of the
Founders were skeptical of “organized religion” (as opposed to
disorganized religion, I guess?) but none of them were atheists.
Jefferson was a Deist; a fact that only enhances the case for him
being very accepting of God in the public square. Deists believe that
the truth of a Divine Creator can be ascertained through observation and
reason. In other words, they viewed God as an Absolute Reality (same as
any other theist) but disagreed on the application of the reality.
Would Jefferson the Deist think that the governors of men should be required to ignore the Absolute Reality of God?
I doubt it. And the Declaration of Independence seems to indicate otherwise.
After all, we don’t need to cherry pick random statements from dead
men, or even analyze the religiosity that is undeniably ingrained in our
official laws and customs. We need only think about the philosophy that
serves as the foundation of our country. It is a philosophy of Natural
Rights. Our Natural Rights come from Natural Law. Natural Law
— particularly since Augustine and, later, St. Aquinas’ Summa
Theologica — has been understood as a set of foundational moral laws
that are inherent in human beings.
Natural Law, and
thus Natural Rights, either come from nature itself, or they come from
the Creator of Nature. If they come from nature itself, then all
democratic notions are in stark defiance of Natural Law. In nature, the strong survive and the weak are preyed upon. That is the law of the jungle; the law
of beasts. We, however, subscribe to the transcendent notion that all
humans possess a certain dignity which entitles them to certain
liberties. This immaterial dignity did not come through an evolutionary
process. It was endowed somehow. If it means anything, then it must be
more than a “social contract” or a policy of government.
The dignity exists. It is real. It means something. It comes from somewhere.
That “somewhere” must be God.
Without God, your rights are an abhorrent perversion of the only True Natural Law — the Law
of Mother Nature – and they are conditionally granted to you by
bureaucrats and politicians, who can revoke them at any time and for any
reason.
The Declaration of Independence might not be a legal document, but it
is a philosophical document. It is America’s Manifesto. It explains
that we have rights which are endowed on us by a Creator God. Every good
thing about America has grown from this basic starting point.
But… the Separation of Church and State, you shout.
Should I insult your intelligence by reminding you that no such
phrase exists in the Constitution? In fact, the First Amendment makes no
mention of “separation,” “church,” or “state,”
in any order or combination. The First Amendment puts no limit on
religion at all. Instead, it limits the governments ability to interfere
in religion, and permanently codifies our right to the “free exercise
thereof.”
When Thomas Jefferson used the notorious phrase “Separation of Church and State”
in his letter to the Danbury Baptists, he was describing a one-sided
wall where the corruption of the Government could not infiltrate and
infect the operations of the Church. He only chose those particular
words because he was speaking to Baptists. He thought it might resonate
with that crowd, considering the founder of the Baptist Church in
America, Roger Williams, had written 150 years earlier about the need
for a “wall of separation between the garden of the Church and the wilderness of the World.”
So when the Supreme Court later used this letter to justify its legal
opinion in Everson vs. Board of Education, it was really deciding case law based on part of a sentence written by a 17th century Baptist preacher.
Stellar work there, Your Honors.
Remember, the settlers were escaping a country that persecuted
Catholics after King Henry VIII threw a hissy fit when the Pope wouldn’t
change Canon Law to suit the
king’s habit of divorcing and/or murdering his wives. The Crown was
declared the “only supreme head of the Church in England,” and guys like
Thomas More were summarily beheaded and chopped into pieces for
refusing to recognize the king’s spiritual authority.
In other words, they were leaving a country where government had intruded on religion — not the other way around.
(**NOTE: I’m not saying that most of the North American settlers were
Catholics fleeing Henry VIII. I’m only using this as an example of the
sort of persecution religious people suffered under British rule.)
But, my atheist friends, I think you know all of this. Or at least some of it.
This country was built by God fearing men and women who intended
to enshrine and protect the very rights that could only come from God
Himself. God has always been central to America, both officially and
unofficially, publicly and personally. This is
the incontrovertible truth. It is a historical reality, and not one that
can be reasonably debated.
If you would like to change America into something else, you are free to try. But have the guts to admit what you are doing. Be honest.

(1) Facebook: Boudreaux was driving down the road the other day, with his wife, Marie, and his mother-in-law in the car. Every couple hundred yards, the two women would take turns telling him something about his driving.
"Slow down ! Watch the other car ! Don't drive so close to the center line ! Look out for that curve ! Etc. Etc." After awhile this started to wear on Boudreaux. He slams on the brakes and pulls onto the shoulder of the road.
Turning to Marie he says, "Look, who's driving dis car? You or your Momma ?"

MyRightWingDad.net: FW: Mass Exodus US Oil Refinerys
How
can anyone expect any company to do business with an anti-American,
hostile gov out of control? You can't. That is why we are seeing a mass
exodus, across the board in every industry in the US LEAVING.
The Closure Of The U.S. Oil Refinery Industry In The Past 2 Years
In 2010, there were 149 operable U.S. refineries
with a combined capacity of 17.6 million barrels (2,800,000 m3) per
day. Something odd started happening in late 2010-early 2011. The US oil refinery industry quielty announced the closure of numerous US oil refineries. Many are completely unaware the US ships
oil overseas to be processed. We do so as we do not have enough
refineries to process the vast amounts here, and we are barred from
building anymore refineries. All refineries perform three basic steps: separation, conversion, and treatment. Pretty simple.

Several reasons include technical and economic factors as to why we ship it overseas to be processed.
1. The crude petroleum is sold to the highest bidder, NOT the nearest bidder
2. There are different kinds of crude oil, such as sweet/light and dark/heavy. They have different applications and uses.
3.
Different kinds of refining processes are needed to make different
products from the crude oil. Petroleum is processed to make lots of
products other than gasoline, like plastics and asphalt.

4. Politics, unions and the "enviornmentalists"
How many of you are aware Sunoco, ConocoPhillips and The HESS Corp are all closing US oil
refineries? Not many, as the media refuses to give this HUGE story
coverage. My guess is that if Americans understood the complete truth to
how we are being sold out, and enslaved there just might be the much
needed revolution to turn this country around.

Last

Sunoco is closing it's 2 oil refineries in July 2012 in Philadelphia and Marcus Hook, Pa. Those 2 facilities alone process over 500,000 barrels a day.
Also
announced last year, ConocoPhillips announcd 2 plant closing for sure

Conoco also announced they were closing their Alaskan refining facility:
Valero also announced in late 2011 the closure of US oil refining facilites, costing numerous jobs, and the loss of 210,000 barrels of oil per day:
Just a week ago, the US 3rd
largest oil refinery owned and operated by The HESS Corp just announced

Refineries on the East Coast of the US supply 40% of the gasoline sales and 60% of the diesel and other fuel oils.
Of that, HALF that comes from the Sunoco & ConocoPhillps plant closures.

ConocoPhillips announced that it was closing the Trainer refinery,
Willie Chiang, then ConocoPhillips' Senior Vice President of Refining,
Marketing, Transportation and Commercial, noted that their decision to
sell, like Sunoco's, was based on unfavorable economics caused by a
competitive and difficult market environment characterized by
"...product imports, weakness in motor fuel demand, and costly
regulatory requirements."

Then you have the unions, led by Barry's buddy Leo Gerard saying they will clsoe ALL US oil refineries starting from the east coast to west coast today.
The
unions are shutting down ports, rail and air across the pond right
now......the SAME EXACT thing they plan on doing here. When the ships
stop importing, the rails & air stop delivering....how much is
everything you consume gonna cost? Remember...we are a CONSUMING
country, no longer a producing one.

The excessive and costly gov regulations on the US oil refinery market has forced companies to re-evaluate the cost of doing business in the US.
Why have operations in the US where you bleed money via regulations & demands, when you can have refineries built in Columbia, Mexico or Brazil for pennies on the dollar, and less regulations?
It's all business America...nothing personal.
Besides.....your gov is giving BILLIONS to Columbia and Brazil to build refineries to process all that oil the US is losing.
We are building up every country on earth, while destroying our own....all in the name of redistribution of wealth.
I covered some of these "deals" Barry inked in my previous note:
You do the math. When the US oil
refineries finally close up shop, who will process all that oil....and
how much do YOU think that oil will cost when it's ALL processed over
seas?

Think gas and energy costs are high right now.......wait 6 months. You haven't seen anything yet.
can anyone expect any company to do business with an anti-American,
hostile gov out of control? You can't. That is why we are seeing a mass
exodus, across the board in every industry in the US LEAVING.

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on "Miniature body parts": No Fire Escapes In Hell: Little arms and legs amidst what looked like bloody ground beef and assorted internal parts. I was old enough to judge by myself that abortion was horribly wrong. It wasn't propaganda that swayed me; it was reality.
It is reality.
The left likes to hide from it (reality in many forms, in fact), tries to justify it by saying that a fetus is not viable until it's outside the womb and breathing on it's own. (But there are many Kermit Gosnells who don't even care at that point either.)
The left can lie to themselves.
That's why it's so easy for the left to lie to the rest of us, all of the time about everything.

If life truly begins at conception, or after cell division commences and
unique DNA is formed, then by logical progression life must end at the
time that the physical body ceases to live. If however, one accepts
that life continues in some form and some place after the physical body
is no longer alive, then the beginning of life must be before that point
of conception, again in some form and some place. God says it thusly,
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you". Indeed, the pro-abortion
side has set the choices as "at birth" or "at conception" and the
argument has been refined by scientific insights as to when between
those two points life can be viable. God's point of view is that He
creates life before the physical body is created and that He sustains it
while the body is alive and that there is a destination beyond the
physical body at which time life is culminated...but as in most earthly
points of view that are in opposition, God's view is left out of the
argument (too much is required in the way of faith to consider it
acceptable to all sides).

"I am a converted Catholic; meaning I converted from Protestant to
Catholic as an adult. I believe abortion is wrong, but I also believe it
is and will be forever impossible to determine "viability",
"otherness". An infant is not viable outside the womb until the age of
26, if O-liar-care is correct, and some people never develop a sense of
otherness, even after the ripe age of 26. Picture Julia and Pajama-boy
coming together in Hippa-space.
"The "my own body" argument is also specious; what part of the DNA is
yours and what part is owned by the father and what part is owned by
the baby?
"The "brain activity" argument also breaks down in the face of the
elderly and a child who cannot bear to part with the now senile parent
who once cared for them.
"All the arguments for and against abortion at some point break down,
except for the argument, when is this child a child? When and where do
we protect the innocent?
"I was a CPS Social Worker before I retired. How many mothers avoid
the legal consequences of taking meth up to the fourth day before
delivery of their child, because they know the drug is gone from their
system by the fourth day? Fetal alcohol effects also come to mind, but
those effects don't go away. I once interviewed a young mother who
aborted her child even after his/her left arm had reached out from her
womb, which by the way was the third time she decided to abort. No, she
did not want and did not hold a funeral. I have also heard the primal
screams of infants born addicted to heroin, then mitigated by IV
morphine drips.
"Life is precious and the soul is God-breathed, I have come to
believe. Who am I to decide when and where life or soul or humanity
begins? Grace and Forgiveness is Divine. Pray, meditate, chant, or do
whatever floats your boat, but let "Abba" hear from you, then try to be
quiet and listen, turn off the text messages too.
"Our wonderful post-modern government will now protect a turtle egg
with a potential prison sentence. Goodness gracious great balls of fire,
what hath Gaia wrought?"

During the Revolutionary War, there were British sympathizers known
as Tories among the colonists. Some of them would work hand-in-hand with
the Redcoats to try to foil the battle plans of the Continental Army.
After a certain skirmish, a group of General Washington’s men tracked
one of these sympathizers to a farm, which they searched for hours
without success. A militiaman then came up with the idea to release a
hen into a barn where they suspected the fugitive might be hiding.
Sure enough, loud cackling and commotion quickly ensued, and the
soldiers were finally able to take their prisoner into custody. This was
the first known instance where someone (more…) had a chicken catch a Tory!!

But the child that's born on the Sabbath day

December 1960 was not a good time for the United States. Among the tragic events of that month were the New York Air Disaster, in which 136 people were killed when UA Flight 826 collided over Staten Island with TWA Flight 226, and the raging fire on the USS Constellation in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in which 50 were killed and 150 injured.
Of course bad things happen every month in a country as large as the United States. In fact, bad things happen every day, so many sometimes that we tend to forget about them in light of the next spectacular event.
One item that happened in December 1960, for example, attracted no attention, made no headlines, caused no animated conversation in the coffee shops and pubs across America. It was, in brief, the union of misdirected evil and misguided naïveté which resulted in the birth of a hybrid species on 4 August 1961.
Barack Hussein Obama, an abusive, alcoholic Kenyan agitator acting on orders from his master الشيطان (or Iblis in Arabic), planted the unholy seed of Ash-Shaytan in the womb of the clueless flower child Stanley Ann Dunham.
As the seed was not human, it did not contain the DNA imprint which would promote development of the routine human traits of morality, ethics, and personal accountability. And as the host was in the low-normal stratum of human potential, the zygote received only minimal-strength coding for a number of traits including purpose, self-discipline, and honesty.
After nine months of parasitic development, the embryo was ejected by the body of Dunham, who then began a pattern of rejecting and abandoning the monster she had co-created until her death 34 years later when she realized, too late, the profound catastrophe of which she had been an integral part.
As the mongrel grew, it was nourished by minions of the eternal Evil One, such as the mother’s completely deluded parents along with an even more delusional surrogate father named Frank Marshall Davis, who taught the misbegotten mistake the tricks of suspicion, anger, accusation, and whining to get what he wanted.
Later his education was completed by an embittered false prophet masquerading as a Christian minister, who taught him race-baiting and fact-skewing; a rabble-rousing domestic terrorist, who taught him how to become famous and wealthy by publishing manufactured stories with manipulated data and massaged dates; and total immersion in a well-established thugocracy, which taught him political extortion and ethnic intimidation.
No, December 1960 was not a good time for America. I was a lowly E-3 in the USN at the time and blissfully unaware of the destructive force being created in Paradise. As for those limousine liberalistas and ethnic loyalistas who elevated the hellish puppet to ultimate power, we told you so, you morons.
The lesson to be learned here is, of course, that naïve young girls who have been captivated by liberal-arts professors should not have sexual relationships with specimen from outside their own species.

But I recall that I was taught, as the Bible says in Luke, to "pray for those that abuse you." So, here goes: This is me, saying a prayer for that rat-faced, greedy, grasping, porcine, boorish, gibbering, moronic stuttering clusterfark of a troglodyte pedlar we have for a Governor.
It's times like these that make me wish I had been raised by Evangelical Christians, instead of Catholics, so I could proceed directly to the "laying on of the hands."

It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (219 unread) - jdr1228 - Yahoo Mail: 72 virgins
An 18-year-old suicide bomber blew himself up and appeared before Allah.
He said, "Oh, Allah, I did your bidding, but I have a request. Since I'm only 18 and spent all my time in terrorist training school, I have never been with a woman. So, instead of 72 virgins, who also won't know what to do sexually, can I have 72 whores.?"
Allah regarded him for a moment, then replied, "Actually, the 72 virgins are here in heaven because assholes like you murdered them before they could experience the pleasure of sex. So you're here to service them. Since they're virgins, they're quite sexually ravenous; and, frankly, you'll be on constant, exhausting duty."
The bomber responded, "Well, I guess I can live with that. How hard can it be to keep 72 women satisfied for all eternity.?"
And Allah replied, "Who said they were women.?"
