Don Surber: The Art of War, Trump edition: money is an interesting commodity based on illusion. the belief amongst those can't find indiana on a map, much less n. Korea, that it has some innate value, is based purely on government propaganda. Nixon tore the shreds of a standard into confetti. the only value money has is based on government say so. it used to be paper. now its just electrons.
as any physicist will tell you, hey EarthLing- there's no such thing as electrons. its just a place keeper until we figure out what's really there.
like genes were before the discovery of DNA.
liberals deride the decisions of the market constantly, and claim it doesn't work. they hate the market because it corrects the foolishness constantly. but that illusion is exposed by the markets reaction to moneys value by upgrading or downgrading based on the markets definition, not that of the government.
moneys value is ENTIRELY based on the peoples belief in their government. the more onerous the govt restrictions on money, the less people believe in it. this disbelief is often fueled by the govt printing it by the train load. followed by their demand that people use it. any nation that follows that path is often accompanied by a vigorous black market assigning the ACTUAL value to that money, even if that involves a 37% discount, a 137% discount, or a 13700% discount. in the soviet, people said, they pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work. but the bosses accepted that, and got their own medicines from e. Germany. this is a market evaluation done on an individual basis. its the same decision a predator makes when he stakes out a waterhole.
what's in it for me?
even in the us, when carter ramped up the presses until they were smoking, people weren't fooled, and the pursuit of gold coins, junk silver, rare stamps, gems, etc. or anything else with intrinsic value reached insane proportions. it even got to the point of insanity where billy beer became a store of value. like tulips.

What is something that someone told you that you will never forget? - Quora
What is something that someone told you that you will never forget? - Quora: A mentor once told me, in frustration, that every time someone complimented me, I would deflect it. ‘It was nothing.’ ‘It wasn’t that difficult.’ I have always been very uncomfortable with compliments. He said that I was unaware of the impact that has on the person giving the compliment, and that I should simply learn to say ‘Thank you’ so that people would feel more comfortable around me. Compliments aren’t about me, they are about the person giving them.
Now, every time that I get a compliment, I understand that someone is trying to connect with me, and I instantly think of what my mentor told me. ‘Thank you’ and I see the impact it has on the person when I graciously accept their compliment instead of deflecting it. Compliments are still uncomfortable for me, but at least they are not uncomfortable for others.

Love Advice
When I was a young woman I met an older man who was was tall, handsome, intelligent, well-educated, owner of a successful restaurant right off of the Champs Elysees. And, yes, he was romantic. I lived with him in Paris for awhile. He taught me so much. We talked a lot about life, love and relationships. Here was his advice about knowing if someone was “the one”. He gently touched my eyes, he gestured to his groin, he placed his hand on my heart and then stroked the top of my head, and put a finger to his lips shaking his head, “no”. He said one had to love someone with his whole self and not lack one way of loving. He said that was why affairs were so commonplace: because people would rather stay in a relationship that was missing one or more types of love rather than be alone…. He gently touched my eyes shut and then had me open them again. Did I like what I saw? Sight: it is so obvious that one loves what one sees: A handsome face! Gorgeous figure! Beautiful hair! Flat stomach! Terrific teeth! Physical love. That indefinable thing that makes someone attractive to you, whatever it is. This is closely followed by lust. He wasn’t vulgar. He didn’t grab my private parts or his. He placed his hand below my belly button, cradling me there the way a mother-to-be holds her unborn child. Love from the loins he called it! It’s that longing for two bodies to merge into one as best as humanly possible…… He out his hand on my heart. One must also feel from the heart: Care for the other person so much that you would do anything for that person to see them happy: soccer game with him, ballet with her, a walk hand in hand when you would rather sit and read a book, bring home unexpected surprises, book a romantic retreat, rub sore feet when your own hands are arthritic, sit all day and night by a hospital bed, clean up puke, give your love your blood, your kidney, want to make another human being with this person. He said too often one was selfish and put oneself before the other……Intellectual love. He stroked my head and rested his palms against my temples. You must love the other person’s mind. You don’t necessarily have to always think alike but you must love and appreciate your partner’s intelligence. You must never think you are completely superior to the other person and firmly believe that the other person excels at things you can barely grasp, whatever that may be: childcare? painting? gardening ? finance ?baking? Also, in the mind, you must have the same ideals. This doesn’t mean the same religion or same nationality but it means that if your love interest is a strict vegan who would rather donate $500 to an animal shelter and you are a BBQ champion who would rather gamble that $500 in Vegas-it will probably not work out in the long run. Ideals also includes your preference of lifestyle: children or no children? Country? City? Suburb? Paris? Oregon? And the last and he thought one of the most important aspects of love involved respect and truth. He put his finger to his lips and shook his head, “No.” He said a relationship with lies and lack of respect was doomed to fail. I’ve shared this with other people before and many have said it was impossible to feel that much for another person. It does seem like a lot, I know. I felt so much for this man and he for me but we knew our ideals were not alike and we wanted different dreams. He was always going to live in Paris and did not want children. I loved Oregon and the forests and ocean and mountains and I wanted to have children. When I left him we were both very emotional. There was no fight, no anger. We just knew it was not meant for us to continue the relationship. I later met a young man I loved fiercely for over 25 years. He checked off all of the kinds of love for me and we had 3 children together. It is sad we ultimately divorced because of his lies and lack of respect for me. My Parisian restaurateur was a wise man…
Plastic Bags?
A 2018 study by the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food looked not just at plastic waste, but also at climate-change damage, ozone depletion, human toxicity and other indicators. It found you must reuse an organic cotton shopping bag 20,000 times before it will have less climate damage than a plastic bag.
