Malwarebytes | 10 easy steps to clean your infected computer

Malwarebytes | 10 easy steps to clean your infected computer

Sounds like your PC has a problem with malware.
So what should you do? Before you flip out, try these simple steps to clean up your infected computer.
Computer acting suspect? Do a little digging and check for symptoms.
  • Does your web browser freeze or become unresponsive?
  • Do you get redirected to web pages other than the ones you are trying to visit?
  • Are you bombarded with pop-up messages?
  • Does your computer run slower than usual?
  • Do you see new icons on your desktop that you don’t recognize?
These are just some of the issues that are characteristic of a malware infection. Unfortunately, even if you see nothing wrong with your computer, there may be trouble brewing under the surface, sneaking around and screwing with your files undetected. So here’s what to do:
  1. Use protection: Enter safe mode.
    • Remove CDs and DVDs, and unplug USB drives from your computer. Then shut down.
    • When you restart, press the F8 key repeatedly. This should bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu.
    • Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter. Only the bare minimum programs and services are used in this mode. If any malware is programmed to automatically load when Windows starts, entering safe mode may block the attempt.
  2. Back up your files, including documents, photos, and videos. Especially cat videos.
    • Do not back up program files, as those are where infections like to hide. You can always download these programs again if files are lost.
  3. Delete temporary files.
    • To speed up your virus scanning, free up disk space, and possibly even get rid of some malware, delete your temporary files using Disk Cleanup.
    • For Windows 8, select Start and search for System Tools. Then select Disk Cleanup. For Windows 7 or lower, select Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Disk Cleanup.
  4. Download an on-demand malware scanner such as
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
    • Follow set-up instructions and install the program.
  5. Disconnect from the Internet. Then run a scan.
    • If you truly believe you are infected, do not pass go, do not collect $100. Just go directly to the scan. If you do have an infection, your on-demand scanner should let you know that you in danger, girl. A list of scan results tells you what malware was found and removed.
  6. Restart your computer. After all, everyone deserves a second chance.
  7. Confirm the results of your anti-malware scan by running a full scan with another malware detection program.
    • Restart again if the program found additional infections.
  8. Update your operating system, browser, and applications.
    • If there’s an update available on any of your software, go ahead and do it. Some of the most dangerous forms of malware are delivered by “exploits” that take advantage of out-of-date software.
  9. Reset all of your passwords.
    • Before being deleted, malware could have captured your passwords and forwarded them to hackers. Change each and every password you can think of, and make sure they’re strong. None of this 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 business. That’s the combination an idiot would use on his luggage.
  10. If, after all of these steps, you’re still having problems with a possible infection, feel free to post your question in our public forum.

Joke: That little pill | Funny - BabaMail: A senior couple decides to try viagra for the first time ever.

They have an incredible night together.
In the morning, the wife asks her husband at breakfast time, "Would you like some bacon and eggs, a slice of toast, and maybe some grapefruit juice and coffee?"

He declines. “Thanks for asking, but, I'm not hungry right now. It's this Viagra," he says. "It's really taken the edge off my appetite."

At lunchtime, she asks him if he'd like something. "How about a bowl of soup, homemade muffins, or a cheese sandwich?"
pill

He declines. "The Viagra," he says, "really trashes my desire for food."

Come dinner time, she asks if he wants anything to eat. "Would you like a juicy rib eye steak and some scrumptious apple pie? Or maybe a rotisserie chicken or tasty stir fry?"

 He declines again.

"No," he says, "it's got to be the Viagra. I'm still not hungry."

"

Well," she says,

"Would you mind letting me up? I'm starving!"

Joke: The generous lawyer HUMOR

Joke: The generous lawyer | Funny - BabaMail: A local United Way office realized that the organization had never received a donation from the town's most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute.

"Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give back to the community in some way?"

The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, "First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?"

Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbled, "Um ... no."

The lawyer interrupts, "or that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?"

The stricken United Way rep began to stammer out an apology, but was interrupted again.

"-or that my sister's husband died in a traffic accident," the lawyer's voice rising in indignation, "leaving her penniless with three children?!"

Curmudgeonly & Skeptical presents Boned Jello: A fellow was getting ready to tee off on the first hole when a second golfer approached and asked if he could join him. The first said that he usually played alone, but agreed to the twosome.

They were even after the first few holes. The second chap said, "We're about evenly matched, how about playing for five quid a hole?"

The first chap said that he wasn't much for betting, but agreed to the terms.

The second chap won the remaining sixteen holes with ease.

As they were walking off number eighteen, the second chap was busy counting his 80.00. He confessed that he was the pro at a neighbouring course and liked to pick on suckers.

The first fellow revealed that he was the local vicar.

The pro was flustered and apologetic, offering to return the money.

The vicar said, "You won fair and square and I was foolish to bet with you. You keep your winnings."

The pro said, "Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"

The vicar said, "Well, you could come to Church on Sunday and make a donation. And, if you want to bring your mother and father along, I'll happy to marry them."

LYNDA RANDLE - GOD ON THE MOUNTAIN LYRICS

LYNDA RANDLE - GOD ON THE MOUNTAIN LYRICS: Life is easy, when you're up on the mountain
And you've got peace of mind, like you've never known.
But things change, when you're down in the valley.
Don't lose faith, for you're never alone.

For the God on the mountain, is the God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He'll make them right.
And the God of the good times
is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day is still God in the night.

We talk of faith way up on the mountain.
Talk comes so easy when life's at its best.
Now down in the valleys, of trials and temptations
That's where your faith, is really put to the test.

For the God on the mountain is the God in the valley.
When things go wrong, He'll make them right.
And the God of the good times
is still God in the bad times.
The God of the day, is still God in the night.
The God of the day, is still God in the night.

    Next...... BOOM!
REMEMBER. THE CREDIT REPORT. IS ONE BIG SCAM. TO GET YOU TO BUY, BUY, BUY. AND KEEP YOU IN PAYING FOR EVER ON END..

Ms.Stinson provided six or seven very excellent ideas concerning
debt.Very objective and to the point one idea that i did ascertain was
this will not be accomplished in month rather a reasonable period of
    time.

I found myself over my head after some substantial medical bills and
my credit card company dropped my rate to near zero and put me on a very
acceptable payment plan to get me on my feet. Negotiating does work.

Interesting article. I especially like the tip about asking your
creditors for help. Negotiating with your credits to either pay less or
at least keep something off of your credit report is an interesting
tactic that really can work. A lot of people never even think to try or
are too intimidated. It never hurts to ask!

Hillary Clinton timeline

Hillary Clinton shrugs off question about whether she 'wiped' her server clean | Daily Mail Online: TIMELINE: THE CLINTON EMAIL SAGA
Hillary Clinton's email troubles began when her private address was exposed by a Romanian hacker. Now the resulting scandal threatens to torpedo her presidential ambitions.

2008 – Hillary Clinton acquires a personal email server for her use in running for president, and has it installed in her Chappaqua, New York home

January 13, 2009 – Internet records show that the domain 'clintonemail.com' was created

January 21, 2009 –Clinton is confirmed by the U.S. Senate as President Obama's secretary of state

February 1, 2013 –Clinton leaves the State Department

March 20, 2013 – Clinton's private email address, hdr22@clintonemail.com, is made public when a Romanian hacker named 'Guccifer' (whose real name is Marcel Lazăr Lehel) hacks into longtime Clinton adviser Sidney Blumenthal's AOL email account and leaks images of his inbox – including emails from Clinton

June 2013 – Hillary's team shifts control of the email domain to an outside IT contractor in Denver called Platte River Networks, and sends the original server hardware to a data center facility in New Jersey, where it is erased

August 11, 2014 – Following a congressional subpoena and more than a year of delays, the State Department hands over a small number of Clinton's private emails, 10 in all, to a House committee investigating the 2012 terror attack on a State Department compound in Benghazi, Libya – including some emails from the hdr22@clintonemail.com address

November 2014 – The Benghazi committee asks the State Department for a larger batch of Clinton's emails and receives about 300 that relate to the Libya saga, amounting to 850 printed pages

December 5, 2014 – Clinton's aides say that in response to a request from the State Department, they have handed over about 55,000 pages of her work-related emails, comprising 30,490 messages

February 13, 2015 – The State Department sends the Benghazi committee another 850 pages of Clinton's emails, including some from two different accounts on the private 'clintonemail.com' server

February 27, 2015 – State Department staffers tell Benghazi committee aides that Clinton had used her private address exclusively during her tenure at the agency, and that they don't have any of her emails other than those she provided voluntarily

March 4, 2015 – The Associated Press reports that it has traced Clinton's private email address back to a private server at her Chappaqua, New York home, and that the server was registered under a fake name

March 10, 2015 – In a contentious press conference following a speech at the United Nations, Clinton admits that she deleted more than 30,000 emails that she says were personal in nature, and says she turned over everything work-related to the State Department, while insisting that 'I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email; there is no classified material'

March 11, 2015 – The Associated Press sues the State Department to force the release of Clinton's emails and other documents that the agency has failed to turn over following a Freedom Of Information Act request

April 12, 2015 – Clinton launches her second presidential campaign with an online video and begins two months of low-key campaigning marked by a lack of interaction with reporters

May 22, 2015 – The first 300 of Clinton's emails are made public by the State Department, revealing a close relationship with Blumenthal in the weeks following the Benghazi terror attack; one of them has been retroactively classified by the FBI as 'secret' but Clinton insists it was 'handled appropriately'

May 27, 2015 – A federal judge orders the State Department to begin releasing all of Clinton's emails in installments every 30 days, setting monthly targets for the agency so the work is completed by January 29, 2016

July 23, 2015 – Charles McCullough, the inspector general for the U.S. intelligence community tells members of Congress in a letter that a random sampling of 40 Clinton emails turned up four that contained material classified as secret

July 24, 2015 – Andrea Williams, spokeswoman for the McCulloush, says that the emails 'were classified when they were sent and are classified now.'

July 25, 2015 – During a campaign appearance in Iowa, Clinton modifies her position and tells reporters in Iowa that 'I am confident that I never sent nor received any information that was classifiedat the time it was sent and received'

July 31, 2015 – The second State Department release of Clinton's emails, more than 1,300 in all, includes 41 that were marked 'classified' before they were made public

August 4, 2015 – Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill says in a statement that the candidate 'did not send nor receive any emails that were marked classified at the time'

August 11, 2015 – McCullough revises his statement to Congress, saying that two of the four emails in question should have been classified 'top secret' – but were not marked that way – and contained information from signal intercepts and keyhole satellite data; he adds that the other two emails are still being evaluated

August 11, 2015 – The FBI takes possession of Clinton's server hardware and three thumb drives in her lawyer's possession, which are said to contain copies of everything she turned over to the State Department

21 lessons to living well during your golden years | Baba Recommends - BabaMail

21 lessons to living well during your golden years | Baba Recommends - BabaMail

21 Rules For a Good Old Age

Some of us have reached our golden years, and some of us have not. But these suggestions should be read by everyone. They have been collected from many a senior, each with his or her own piece of advice. Some you know, some may surprise you, and some will remind you of what's important. So read well, share with your loved ones, and have a great day and a great life!

1. It's time to use the money you saved up. Use it and enjoy it. Don't just keep it for those who may have no notion of the sacrifices you made to get it. Remember there is nothing more dangerous than a son or daughter-in-law with big ideas for your hard earned capital. Warning: This is also a bad time for an investment, even if it seems wonderful or fool-proof. They only bring problems and worries and this is a time for you to enjoy some peace and quiet.

2. Stop worrying about the financial situation of your children and grandchildren, and don't feel bad spending your money on yourself. You've taken care of them for many years, and you've taught them what you could. You gave them an education, food, shelter and support. The responsibility is now theirs to earn their own money.

3. Keep a healthy life, without great physical effort. Do moderate exercise (like walking every day), eat well and get your sleep. It's easy to become sick, and it gets harder to remain healthy. That is why you need to keep yourself in good shape and be aware of your medical and physical needs. Keep in touch with your doctor, get tested even when you're feeling well. Stay informed.

4. Always buy the best, most beautiful items for your significant other. The key goal is to enjoy your money with your partner. One day one of you will miss the other, and the money will not provide any comfort then, enjoy it together.

5. Don't stress over the little things. You've already overcome so much in your life. You have good memories and bad ones, but the important thing is the present. Don't let the past drag you down and don't let the future frighten you. Feel good in the now. Small issues will soon be forgotten.

6. Regardless of age, always keep love alive. Love your partner, love life, love your family, love your neighbor and remember: "A man is not old as long as he has intelligence and affection."

7. Be proud, both inside and out. Don't stop going to your hair salon or barber, do your nails, go to the dermatologist and the dentist, keep your perfumes and creams well stocked. When you are well-maintained on the outside, it seeps in, making you feel proud and strong.

8. Don't lose sight of fashion trends for your age, but keep your own sense of style. There's nothing worse than an older person trying to wear the current fashion among youngsters. You've developed your own sense of what looks good on you - keep it and be proud of it. It's part of who you are.

9. ALWAYS stay up-to-date. Read newspapers, watch the news. Go online and read what people are saying. Make sure you have an active email account and try to use some of those social networks. You'll be surprised which old friends you'll meet. Keeping in touch with what is going on and with the people you know is important at any age.

10. Respect the younger generation and their opinions. They may not have the same ideals as you, but they are the future, and will take the world in their direction. Give advice, not criticism, and try to remind them of yesterday's wisdom that still applies today.

11. Never use the phrase: "In my time". Your time is now. As long as you're alive, you are part of this time. You may have been younger, but you are still you now, having fun and enjoying life.

12. Some people embrace their golden years, while others become bitter and surly. Life is too short to waste your days on the latter. Spend your time with positive, cheerful people, it'll rub off on you and your days will seem that much better. Spending your time with bitter people will make you older and harder to be around.

13. Do not surrender to the temptation of living with your children or grandchildren (if you have a financial choice, that is). Sure, being surrounded by family sounds great, but we all need our privacy. They need theirs and you need yours. If you've lost your partner (our deepest condolences), then find a person to move in with you and help out. Even then, do so only if you feel you really need the help or do not want to live alone.

14. Don't abandon your hobbies. If you don't have any, make new ones. You can travel, hike, cook, read, dance. You can adopt a cat or a dog, grow a garden, play cards, checkers, chess, dominoes, golf. You can paint, volunteer at an NGO or just collect certain items. Find something you like and spend some real time having fun with it.

15. Even if you don't feel like it, try to accept invitations. Baptisms, graduations, birthdays, weddings, conferences. Try to go. Get out of the house, meet people you haven't seen in a while, experience something new (or something old). But don't get upset when you're not invited. Some events are limited by resources, and not everyone can be hosted. The important thing is to leave the house from time to time. Go to museums, go walk through a field. Get out there.

16. Be a conversationalist. Talk less and listen more. Some people go on and on about the past, not caring if their listeners are really interested. That's a great way of reducing their desire to speak with you. Listen first and answer questions, but don't go off into long stories unless asked to. Speak in courteous tones and try not to complain or criticize too much unless you really need to. Try to accept situations as they are. Everyone is going through the same things, and people have a low tolerance for hearing complaints. Always find some good things to say as well.

older couple

17. Pain and discomfort go hand in hand with getting older. Try not to dwell on them but accept them as a part of the cycle of life we're all going through. Try to minimize them in your mind. They are not who you are, they are something that life added to you. If they become your entire focus, you lose sight of the person you used to be.

18. If you've been offended by someone - forgive them. If you've offended someone - apologize. Don't drag around resentment with you. It only serves to make you sad and bitter. It doesn't matter who was right. Someone once said: "Holding a grudge is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die." Don't take that poison. Forgive, forget and move on with your life.

19. If you have a strong belief, savor it. But don't waste your time trying to convince others. They will make their own choices no matter what you tell them, and it will only bring you frustration. Live your faith and set an example. Live true to your beliefs and let that memory sway them.

20. Laugh. Laugh A LOT. Laugh at everything. Remember, you are one of the lucky ones. You managed to have a life, a long one. Many never get to this age, never get to experience a full life. But you did. So what's not to laugh about? Find the humor in your situation.

older couple

21. Take no notice of what others say about you and even less notice of what they might be thinking. They'll do it anyway, and you should have pride in yourself and what you've achieved. Let them talk and don't worry. They have no idea about your history, your memories and the life you've lived so far. There's still much to be written, so get busy writing and don't waste time thinking about what others might think. Now is the time to be at rest, at peace and as happy as you can be!

Curmudgeonly & Skeptical presents Boned Jello

HUMOR

A tourist in Vienna is going through a graveyard and all of a sudden he
hears music.  Could it be Andre Rieu, he thinks to himself? He
looks
around but no one can be seen, so he starts searching for the source.

He finally locates the origin
and finds it is coming from a grave with a headstone that reads:

 "Ludwig van Beethoven, 1770-
1827."

Then he realizes that the music is Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and it is
being played backward!

Puzzled, he leaves the
graveyard and persuades a friend to return with him.

By the time they arrive back at the grave, the music has changed. This
time it is the Seventh Symphony, but like the previous piece, it is being played backwards.

Curious, the men agree to consult a music scholar. When they return
with the expert, the Fifth Symphony is playing, again backwards.

The expert notices that the symphonies are being played in the reverse
order in which they were composed, the 9th, then the 7th,  then
the 5th.

By the next day the word has spread, and a crowd has gathered around
the grave.

They are all listening to the Second Symphony being played backward.
Just then the graveyard's caretaker ambles up to the group.

Someone in the group asks him if he has an explanation for the music.

"I would have thought it was obvious,"  the caretaker says: "He's
decomposing."

AMERICAN DIGEST Essays, News, Notes, and Quotes: Cecil The Lion And The Goodwhite-Badwhite Cold Civil War

The killing happened, furthermore, in Zimbabwe, a country not best known for firm adherence to rule of law, property rights, and governmental integrity.

The place is, in fact, a miserable black African slum ruled by an aged despot who has murdered his political opponents, banned dissent, and allowed his family and friends to loot the economy, what’s left of it. .... And people—Americans—are worked up about animal rights in this hell-hole? -

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on Suffer not the old King under any name!: “I am not here as a serf or vassal. I am not begging my lords for mercy.": So here we are in 2015 serving our government, when it was supposed to have been the other way around!

They have stolen our liberty by chicanery, and I no longer believe we're going to get it back.

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on Suffer not the old King under any name!: “I am not here as a serf or vassal. I am not begging my lords for mercy."

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on Suffer not the old King under any name!: “I am not here as a serf or vassal. I am not begging my lords for mercy.": The moment she claimed that their sworn duty was to protect American Liberty, every single one of them thought "Oh what a stupid bint! It so is not. WE have been elected for the sole purpose to confiscate money and power from people like you, and give it to people like us and our friends. You're a naif lady, and we can safely ignore you, as you have just shown us that you can be gulled."

In public discourse, it normally ought not to be done. But in this case, she needed to declare the full B&T. Betrayal of the American people who elected them, and Treason against the Constitution and the Republic. Since they don't give a rat's ass what we think, calling them out on B&T will have no more effect than claiming they ... ooh ... faltered." But the overheated words will put them on notice that there are some mighty pissed-off people that are crossing their own personal Rubicons.

There is no other explanation for what has transpired. The IRS has been transformed into a political weapon to be used against any who would dare question the actions of the government. That the traitors passed the Cromnibus in January, giving all the funds requested to all the government agencies, no questions asked, no consequences for misbehavior, shows that they all agree and support the government as it is currently performing. All this is Ruling Party Failure Theater, performed by that gang of sociopaths on us who they believe are so easily gulled.

There are a few browser plug-ins that offer unsending features. The first one we're going to look at is Criptext.Right now, it's just for Chrome and Safari, but Firefox and Outlook program versions are in development.

When you enable Criptext on an email, itencrypts the message and any attachments, tracks it so you know when it's been opened, and gives you the option to "recall" it. You can also set messages to expire after a certain amount of time.

UnSend.itis a service that works with more browsers and email services than Criptext. It does everything Criptext does, except encryption. You will also need to configure your email service to run through UnSend.it's servers.

Once that's done, you can send email and attachments to anyone. If you decide to unsend the email, just click a button in your email service and they won't see it anymore. You can also track when someone opens the message or set it to self destruct after an amount of time.

Both of these services work by turning the text of your message into an image, then sending that image on to your recipient. Because the message is served from their servers, they can delete the image and it will disappear from your recipient's inbox.

The email will still be there, but it will be blank. Unless your recipient took a screenshot, they won't have the information. If you really want to take things to another level, however, keep reading.

How to unsend an email | Komando.com: Gmail 'Undo Send'

Google's Gmail is an incredibly popular email system thanks to its powerful and customizable inbox. It also has more features on the back end than you can shake a stick at, and it's adding more all the time.

One feature Gmail has had for years is "Undo Send," but it was experimental and buried away. Now, it's front and center, and you just need to enable it.

In your Gmail account, click the gear icon in the upper-right corner and choose "Settings." On the "General" tab, scroll down and find "Undo Send." Click the checkbox for "Enable Undo Send" and choose the cancellation period.

You can choose a cancellation period of 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds. This is how long you have to realize that you didn't mean to send that email and call it back before it gets delivered.Once you have that set, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the "Save Changes" button.

Now when you click the "Send" button on a message, you'll see a message appear at the top of your Google inbox with an "Undo" link. As long as the message is on the screen, you can click the "Undo" link and the email will reappear ready for editing or deleting.

Of course, maybe you want a grace period longer than 30 seconds or you use a different email service. I've got something for you, too.

AMERICAN DIGEST Essays, News, Notes, and Quotes: So, again, while the silly prancers prance and the idiotic dancers dance on the streets of DC, San Francisco, and Seattle,

the White House is bathed in the colors of the gay rainbow flag, our President continues to lecture us all on the evils of the Confederacy, and the Rebel flag gets ripped down from monuments across the South, ISIS & Co. continue their march toward an Islamic Caliphate. One in which, please note, gays do not get married, they get thrown from tall buildings or hanged from cranes. While it apparently takes a delusional white guy who shoots up a black church to get our President concerned about the deaths of Christians, or as he once labelled them "bible clingers," ISIS and pals such as Boko Haram have no problem slaughtering hundreds of Christians and bragging about it. AMERICAN DIGEST Essays, News, Notes, and Quotes: I won’t fight for a government

which has spent years importing filth from every recess of the third world to replace the children we never had because our women were too busy serving two buck coffees to pay off their six-figure student debts.

The government sees low maintenance immigrants as the future of this country. Send them to fight for it. I will not fight for the freedom of speech of people who use it to bully, belittle, and demonize Christians. I will not be lectured on the importance of the right to free speech and then in the next breath criticized for my disapproval of the proliferation of gay marriage and the false idols of equality. If freedom of speech is such a fundamental right to these people then they can take up arms and defend it. But we all know they won’t. Coming Home From The War On Terror

AMERICAN DIGEST Essays, News, Notes, and Quotes: Let the Left secure the Leftist State it has wrought So my advice to young men and women:

Stop joining the US military. Do not talk to recruiters or let them seduce you with sales pitches of job training or education benefits. These now have the main purpose of more deeply tying your personal prosperity, hence your liberty, to government control and largess. Let the diminishing number of unaborted children of the Left go fight the Left's wars of choice like Syria. The Left wants them, let the Left fight them. Let the Left sacrifice its own to protect the State it has wanted for decades and finally got. It is not the country the Founders made. It is not a country that believers in Constitutional liberty can defend with integrity.

They are not nice to the children who will be confused when told in first grade

that a mommy can marry a mommy or the children who will never know their fathers, the men who jacked off in fertility clinics and then left them for good. They’re not nice to the victims of homosexuality who will kill themselves, end up murdered by a not-very-nice partner, die prematurely from a not-nice disease such as anal cancer, bacterial pneumonia or AIDS, or if they are one of the small number of homosexuals who survive into old age, die alone and with no grown children to care for them. AMERICAN DIGEST Essays, News, Notes, and Quotes: I will pay a half-million dollars to each of my slaves, and free them immediately.

I am not sure how many I have, but will try to give you an estimate in even dozens.

Further, I believe that all blacks are entitled to a similar amount for every year in which they were slaves. However, I think you owe us royalties for the use of our civilization, which can be regarded as a sort of software. There should be a licensing fee. After all, every time you use a computer, or a door knob, you are using something invented by us. Every time you sharpen a pencil, or use one, or read or write, you infringe our copyright, so to speak. We have spent millennia coming up with things–literacy, soap, counting–and it is only fair that we receive recompense. - - Fred Reed

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on My Lazy Remington Shotgun

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on My Lazy Remington Shotgun: The murder rate in the USA is 4.7 per 100,000. This puts us right in the middle (#109) of a list of 218 countries that has a median of 4.75 and and a mean of 8.64. So the USA murder rate is completely unexceptional (though it is high for a 1st world country).

If you take out the murders in Chicago (422), Detroit (322), New Orleans (155), and Washington DC (103), this would make the murder rate 4.25 and move us up (less murders) to position #102, about equal to the murder rate in Cuba.

Your doctor still probably believes that cholesterol in the diet translates into cholesterol in the bloodstream, that there is “good” and “bad” cholesterol, and that “bad” cholesterol bears a statistically significant relationship to heart disease. Every one of these propositions is false.

I refer you to an excellent article by Matt Ridley “cholesterol is not bad for you”,
