What is something that someone told you that you will never forget? - Quora: A mentor once told me, in frustration, that every time someone complimented me, I would deflect it. ‘It was nothing.’ ‘It wasn’t that difficult.’ I have always been very uncomfortable with compliments. He said that I was unaware of the impact that has on the person giving the compliment, and that I should simply learn to say ‘Thank you’ so that people would feel more comfortable around me. Compliments aren’t about me, they are about the person giving them.
Now, every time that I get a compliment, I understand that someone is trying to connect with me, and I instantly think of what my mentor told me. ‘Thank you’ and I see the impact it has on the person when I graciously accept their compliment instead of deflecting it. Compliments are still uncomfortable for me, but at least they are not uncomfortable for others.

Love Advice
When I was a young woman I met an older man who was was tall, handsome, intelligent, well-educated, owner of a successful restaurant right off of the Champs Elysees. And, yes, he was romantic. I lived with him in Paris for awhile. He taught me so much. We talked a lot about life, love and relationships. Here was his advice about knowing if someone was “the one”. He gently touched my eyes, he gestured to his groin, he placed his hand on my heart and then stroked the top of my head, and put a finger to his lips shaking his head, “no”. He said one had to love someone with his whole self and not lack one way of loving. He said that was why affairs were so commonplace: because people would rather stay in a relationship that was missing one or more types of love rather than be alone…. He gently touched my eyes shut and then had me open them again. Did I like what I saw? Sight: it is so obvious that one loves what one sees: A handsome face! Gorgeous figure! Beautiful hair! Flat stomach! Terrific teeth! Physical love. That indefinable thing that makes someone attractive to you, whatever it is. This is closely followed by lust. He wasn’t vulgar. He didn’t grab my private parts or his. He placed his hand below my belly button, cradling me there the way a mother-to-be holds her unborn child. Love from the loins he called it! It’s that longing for two bodies to merge into one as best as humanly possible…… He out his hand on my heart. One must also feel from the heart: Care for the other person so much that you would do anything for that person to see them happy: soccer game with him, ballet with her, a walk hand in hand when you would rather sit and read a book, bring home unexpected surprises, book a romantic retreat, rub sore feet when your own hands are arthritic, sit all day and night by a hospital bed, clean up puke, give your love your blood, your kidney, want to make another human being with this person. He said too often one was selfish and put oneself before the other……Intellectual love. He stroked my head and rested his palms against my temples. You must love the other person’s mind. You don’t necessarily have to always think alike but you must love and appreciate your partner’s intelligence. You must never think you are completely superior to the other person and firmly believe that the other person excels at things you can barely grasp, whatever that may be: childcare? painting? gardening ? finance ?baking? Also, in the mind, you must have the same ideals. This doesn’t mean the same religion or same nationality but it means that if your love interest is a strict vegan who would rather donate $500 to an animal shelter and you are a BBQ champion who would rather gamble that $500 in Vegas-it will probably not work out in the long run. Ideals also includes your preference of lifestyle: children or no children? Country? City? Suburb? Paris? Oregon? And the last and he thought one of the most important aspects of love involved respect and truth. He put his finger to his lips and shook his head, “No.” He said a relationship with lies and lack of respect was doomed to fail. I’ve shared this with other people before and many have said it was impossible to feel that much for another person. It does seem like a lot, I know. I felt so much for this man and he for me but we knew our ideals were not alike and we wanted different dreams. He was always going to live in Paris and did not want children. I loved Oregon and the forests and ocean and mountains and I wanted to have children. When I left him we were both very emotional. There was no fight, no anger. We just knew it was not meant for us to continue the relationship. I later met a young man I loved fiercely for over 25 years. He checked off all of the kinds of love for me and we had 3 children together. It is sad we ultimately divorced because of his lies and lack of respect for me. My Parisian restaurateur was a wise man…
Plastic Bags?
A 2018 study by the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food looked not just at plastic waste, but also at climate-change damage, ozone depletion, human toxicity and other indicators. It found you must reuse an organic cotton shopping bag 20,000 times before it will have less climate damage than a plastic bag.

airline pilot wages
Sam Samaha - Quora: Sam Samaha, Pilot
Answered Feb 7, 2018
Most US Major airline pilots earn between $120,000 and $350,000 base salary a year, and some as little as $80,000 and as much as $450,000 depending on how much seniority they have, how much “over time” the elect to work and other factors.. The job is almost entirely based on seniority and most airlines have a 12 year pay scale that automatically grants you a pay raise every year. Airline pilot unions also re-negotiate their wages a about every 3–5 years and get something on the order of 15–20% wage increases. Also, most of these major airlines will also contribute 15% into your 401K (not match, but actually contribute).. so this adds to the day package. Some airlines, such as Hawaiian also have a large VEBA medical account for retirement ($188,000 in 2018 dollars), that index for inflation and will support your medical co-pays and expenses after the mandatory age 65 retirement.

BULLET
My favorites are my 2 remote control vibrating bullets. My first one that I got about a year ago is a Treediride and simultaneously stimulates my G-spot and clitoris. The part that goes inside me has a nice bulbous head that curves toward the frontal wall of my pussy to get directly at my G-spot. Then the base has a flap like part with several nubs on it to provide stimulation to my clit at the same time. It has 10 different vibration patterns and the remote has a range of well over 50 feet. I do have to turn it on when I put it in to enable control from the remote, but then the vibrating can be turned on/off from the remote. I do need to wear something like granny panties or a control panty to hold it in place, a thong panty just can’t do it.

funny?
I had a blow-up doll and one morning feeling like some action I got her oiled up and started love making../.t some stage I got over excited and bit off her left nipple,, she shot out from under me and started spinning like a top as she went up the ceiling fan decapitated her and she shot out the window taking out the fly screen… I raced over and watched as she shot across the road and a driver coming the other way could not believe his eyes seeing a headless lady with big knockers going across in front of him and he hit a pole..My love one landed on the grass and my neighbour took her out with the lawnmower…he looked across only to see me naked at the window.

Gibran wrote:
…but let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

Delingpole: UN's Species Extinction Report is Hysterical Nonsense
Delingpole: UN's Species Extinction Report is Hysterical Nonsense: The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), which produced the report, is a political organisation not a scientific one. Just like its sister organisation the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change — IPCC — in fact.
As Donna Laframboise notes here, both exist purely to give a fig leaf of scientific credibility to the UN’s ‘sustainability’ agenda.
When the IPBES was established in 2010, we were informed point blank that its purpose was “to spearhead the battle against the destruction of the natural world.”
In other words, there’s all sorts of deception here.

Quotation
“And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.” — By Max Ehrmann © 1927

Importance of Hydrocarbon Energy
David A Simpson, Owner/Principal Engineer at MuleShoe Engineering (2003-present)
That there is simply no way that the earth can support 7.4 billion people without concentrated, compact, transportable energy supply which is only satisfied by hydrocarbons. Without the Oil & Gas industry the earth can support about 1 billion people. With the industry 7.4 billion is no problem.
People in the industrialized countries spend about 0.25–2 hours/day providing for the energy needs of their families (food, heat, light, energy for cooking, water). In subsistence economies about 36 hours of effort is required every day to meet the needs of a family of 4. If you can’t transport food to market more efficiently than animal power, cities become largely unsustainable.
The most misunderstood fact about the industry that so many people vilify is that without it they would stand a 1 in 7 chance of actually being alive, and if they were alive they would be far too busy trying to obtain food, water, and fuel to be complaining about frac’ing or pipelines.
The second most misunderstood thing is that crude oil and natural gas are NATURAL substances. They come from the earth and virtually all of the biogenic hydrocarbons that have ever been on earth have leaked out of source rock into the atmosphere. Microbes have evolved to live on these natural substances, and an oil spill is not ever an “ecological disaster” it is simply messy and smelly for a little while until nature gets it back toward balance. Something on the order of 1 million points on the earth (mostly in the seas) have been identified as sources of hydrocarbon seeps. You’ve probably heard of the LaBrea Tar Pits, the Santa Barbara Channel seeps, Canadian Tar Sands? All of these places represent natural hydrocarbons coming to the surface. Water fowl got messy with crude eons before the Exxon Valdez, or even the invention of Dawn Dishwashing detergent. And they will get messy with crude eons after the last man dies out.

A wonderful testimony!! sad but happy
Tamra Scott-Hunt, former Presentation specialist at IBM (1996-1999)
In 1996 I married a wonderful man named Michael. It was a first marriage for both of us, and we felt as if we’d been waiting for each other our whole lives.
(Me & Michael in Maui with Lanai in the distance, mid-1990s.)
(On our wedding day)
We’d been trying to conceive, with no luck, ever since our engagement. In the fall of 1997 I underwent an exploratory laparoscopic surgery where it was discovered I had endometriosis. During the surgery they were able to do a procedure that temporarily opened a short window of fertility. My doctor told us this window would last approximately 3 months, afterwhich I’d most likely become infertile again, so we were thrilled when we conceived just three weeks later. The day before Thanksgiving we discovered I was pregnant, and we were so very thankful. Michael caressed and kissed my belly, and we called this our “miracle baby”.
Everything seemed fine. The morning sickness was bearable, and I wasn’t suffering with other early pregnancy symptoms, but at 13 weeks I had some bad bleeding. Michael rushed home from work while I frantically called my doctor. She said not to come in, and that staying horizontal would be the best thing to prevent a miscarriage. It took three days for the bleeding to stop, so Michael took time off from work to take care of me.
At my next appointment my doctor assured me it was only some minor bleeding and I shouldn’t worry about it. “Nothing to be concerned about” she said. I tried to tell her how much blood there was but she brushed it off. At 16 weeks I had an amnio and ultrasound. We found out we were going to have a boy, and the genetic tests all came back normal. However, because there was so much blood in the amniotic fluid, during the ultrasound the doctor said, “Did you know that you almost lost him?” He checked the attachment to my uterine wall and told us everything seemed “okay now”.
My doctor never followed up on this at our next appointment. When I asked her about it she assured me again that it was just some minor bleeding, nothing to worry about. Years later I would learn I’d had a partial placental abruption which made not just my pregnancy high risk, but was also a risk to my life.
Just a few weeks later, at 20 weeks pregnant, we got what I thought would be the worst news of my life. My husband was diagnosed with stage IV non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the most common form of lung cancer for non-smokers. I remember the doctors words reverberating in my brain as he looked into my husband‘s eyes and said: “You have a malignancy“. And I remember the feeling of my unborn child moving in my womb as the nightmare unfolded before us.
After a few months of unsuccessful chemo and radiation they told us there was nothing more they could do, that we should go home and prepare ourselves. The stress of caring for my dear husband as he endured the chemo was more than I could bear. At 5 months into my pregnancy I weighed four pounds less than before I’d gotten pregnant.
I took care of Michael as best I could, but one night, at six and a half months along I sat down on our bed and my water broke. I knew it was too early. I also began bleeding. I lay awake all night having back labor in the hospital, trying to prepare myself for the c-section in the morning. After Sam was born they let me see him for just a second before placing him on the respirator and putting him inside an incubator. I remember hearing him cry out to me as we looked at each other for that brief moment. It would be the only time I would hear his voice.
His lungs were so undeveloped. Maybe it was the stress Sam and I had both endured throughout the second trimester that added to the difficulty of being born early, I will never know….. Each day my husband and I stood by his incubator stroking his face and arms, holding his tiny hands, and talking to him, telling him how much we loved him and praying that he would live. But Sam lived for only six days.
The morning they came to tell us he was gone I had just awoken from a horrible nightmare of a demon breaking into my house and destroying everything I loved. When I saw the doctor’s face, he didn’t have to say anything. I looked at him and said, “My baby’s gone…” and he nodded.
I slipped into a deep, dark abyss, but I had no choice but to go on caring for my dying husband. Six weeks later I sat in the hospital holding Michael’s hand, telling him how much I loved him, and thanking him for loving me, as I watched him take his last breath. Our eyes were locked together till the end.
I was 37 years old when I lost my family, and I knew with my history of infertility my chances of having another baby were slim at best. I lost my faith completely, and my heart vacillated between indifference and a seething hatred for God and life. Everywhere I went I saw pregnant women, smiling and happy, oblivious to what had happened in my world. Friends didn’t invite me to baby showers, and people kept making well-meaning but in my opinion, ridiculous remarks to me; “You know Jesus needed Michael and Sam more than you did”, “God measures us for a cross before we’re born”, and my favorite “You know right now they’re running through fields of clover”. Clover? Really? Are they running in circles, figure eights, a mobius strip, or just one continuous line that goes for an eternity? I was so bitter, so hopeless, and it was a dark, cold winter that year.
Seven months later I put my profile on an online dating website. I didn’t feel ready to date, but I thought it would be a good idea to at least start talking to men, and the internet seemed like a good buffer between me and the real world for the time being. I met a lot of men online, but only one became special to me. This man had lost his wife two months after my husband had died. He was sensitive, intelligent, interesting, and a commander in the Navy Reserves. He could relate to my loss in a way no one else could. Four and a half years after both our spouses had died, we were married in Maui.
I was determined, but not overly optimistic about getting pregnant at the ripe old age of 42. We’d been to a fertility specialist at Stanford Hospital and she’d told us with my history of infertility, our chances of conceiving a child were not good. Still, she said she’d do whatever she could to help us. Two months later, one-month after our wedding, and ten days before my scheduled laparoscopy, I found out I was pregnant. With no help from the medical community I had somehow overcome all the odds. Making the call to cancel my surgery and tell the Stanford fertility specialist that I was pregnant was the happiest call of my life. She was thrilled for us. “I don’t get many phone calls like this”, she said.
Now we are the happy, and somewhat tired, mid-life parents of a beautiful girl. She means the world to us, and she’s a miracle to me. And every day I’m thankful I got another chance to be a mother.
(He’s wearing a work T-shirt here, but I still love this photo of us)
Time does heal, and it’s not as painful as it was, but I’ll never forget my first family. And each year on Sam’s birthday and the anniversary of his death, I sit with his picture and remember the way it felt to touch his skin, and the color of his eyes, and his newborn smell. And I pray that some day when my time is over, I’ll finally get to hold him in my arms. Till then I can only hold him in my dreams.
'It shall be cause of war and dire events,
And set dissension 'twixt the son and sire;
Subject and servile to all discontents,
As dry combustious matter is to fire:
Sith in his prime Death doth my love destroy,
They that love best their loves shall not enjoy.'
And set dissension 'twixt the son and sire;
Subject and servile to all discontents,
As dry combustious matter is to fire:
Sith in his prime Death doth my love destroy,
They that love best their loves shall not enjoy.'

Greenpeace Founder: Climate Change Hoax Is Completely Made-Up Issue
Greenpeace Founder: Climate Change Hoax Is Completely Made-Up Issue: Moore described Greenpeace’s leftward shift and use of deception for self-serving financial ends:
As time went on, I watched as Greenpeace evolved, basically hijacked by the extreme left. We were pretty centrist when we started. We were basing our positions on science and logic, as I saw it, and I’ve been a scientist all my life; that’s my orientation — not to make up stories and not to exaggerate unnecessarily. And I found that Greenpeace was just going off into this sensationalism and misinformation, and using fear to get people to send them money — fear that the world was coming to an end, which we hear repeated over and over and over again now with this final declaration by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that we have 12 years left until the end of the world. The fact is, people have been saying that since the beginning of time, and it never has and it never people, but they get away with it.

Lyrics
While the world looks upon me
As I struggle along
They say I've got nothing
But they are so wrong
In my heart I'm rejoicing
How I wish they could see
Thank you Lord
For your blessing on me!
There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There's food on my table
And shoes on my feet
You gave me your love Lord
And a fine family
Thank you Lord
For your blessings on me!
I know I'm not wealthy
These clothes, they're not new
I don't have much money
But Lord I have you
And that's all that matters
Though the world may not see
Thank you Lord
For your blessings on me!
There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There's food on my table

First, I am not pro or con in this. I’m a bystander at this parade of the misfits of society.
You seem to have missed my point.
About 60% of all abortions in the US are performed on a race that is 13% of the population.
About 60% of all violent crime in the US is performed by the same race.
Eliminate abortion in the US will cause violent crime to soar.
Now, would you rather be dazzled by potential inventions and discoveries in the future or raped, robbed, and killed?
