  • What drugs was Adam Peter Lanza on, age 20, Killed 26 and wounded 2 in Newtown Ct
Those focusing on further firearms bans or magazine restrictions are clearly focusing on the wrong issue and asking the wrong questions, either as a deliberate attempt to hide these links, or out of complete and utter ignorance.

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on Beneath your feet right now there might be up to 10 oceans worth of water. Want to take a swim?

"Caldera"
=========
Yellowstone Park sits directly over a hot spot. The volcano is quiet today, only the geysers and hot springs remind us that there is a huge volcano under the beautiful scenery. Just 600,000 years ago a huge eruption filled the area with lava flows. After the enormous eruption there was a void under the top of the volcano. The weight of the volcano caused the top to come crashing down forming the large Caldera in the park. Since the hot spot remains active, another giant eruption will almost certainly occur. The question is, when?
A new cycle of volcanic activity has begun. The number and strength of earthquakes have increased; new hot springs have appeared and existing ones have grown. A large area to the northeast of Yellowstone Lake has uplifted. Will it erupt again? If so, when? How much damage will it cause?
Not until the thermal imaging units were installed in satellites in the nineties was the scientific community aware that calderas existed. They were simply too large to be seen with the naked eye or any known instruments before that time. It was then that the vast size of the Yellowstone caldera became apparent. On the order of 600 miles by 400 miles scientists were stunned by the magnitude of the forces it contained.
Imagine one of those Betty Crocker dinners. You pour a packet of vegetables into the Pyrex then you dump a can of gravy on it. Then you spoon dollops of gooey dough on top of that, then into the oven at three-fifty for an hour. When its done you have a crispy roof over a boiling vat of gruel. If you poke a hole through the roof the gruel will ooze up from below. This is a Caldera.
The earth is seven-tenths water so it is in keeping that most of the worlds Caldera's are underwater. The largest known Caldera is located approximately four thousand miles west of California in the center of the Pacific ocean and it is called Panthea. Less than one hundred feet below the surface of the sea bottom the temperature of Panthea is estimated at over eight thousand degrees. Steam regulary is emitted from hundreds of surface orifices over Panthea and the surface is constantly moving.
Panthea is estimated to be over two hundred and fifty miles in depth and nine hundred miles in diameter, the largest of all Calderas. Tied to the San Andreas fault on the United States western seaboard Panthea is considered the origin for most of the seismic activity in this region as well as in Alaska and eastern Asia including Japan, China.
Recent readings of Panthea's core temperatures indicate that changes are occuring as the surrounding waters escalate in temperature. Biologists are plotting computer models to try to determine what the ripple effect will be if the caldera roof would collapse due to liquification. The first sign would be Richter machines going off the scale, on the order of fifteen point oh. This alone would disturb the very mantle of the earth itself.
Second, the collapse in volume of the earths surface, the ceiling of the caldera, would cause huge tension release within the oceans body. Think of a large plate of spaghetti with suddenly no plate. When the structure of the ocean floor itself is removed, it is not clear what exactly will happen in other parts of the world.
Suddenly the oceans water would sweep into the new void created by the caldera. This water must come from somewhere, it would come from everywhere simultaneously. Like pouring cold coffee down the kitchen sink. Gone.
The level of the seas would drop six feet in a matter of minutes and coastlines would be scrubbed as massive volumes of seawater were pulled toward the void. Millions of people worldwide would be swept along with the rushing seas. Entire cities would vanish, coastlines too would no longer exist.
Pantheon is roughly the size of the Gulf of Mexico, but two hundred and fifty miles deep. This space would consume large amounts of both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans. In hours the level of the worlds oceans would drop more than 100 feet. Icebergs in the Arctic sea would topple as they touched the sea bed, the Mediterranean sea would be dry. Hydrostatic vacuum would cause all buildings on all coasts to collapse.
As trillions of gallons of seawater drain into the gaping boiling Panthea the water will be instantly heated to eight thousand degrees creating a gaseous explosive mixture of thousands of chemicals simultaneously. The blowback from this will shower the stratosphere worldwide.

Sarah is a teacher in a private school named Colloquial First where their kids attend. Matt has a past time as an Ultralight pilot and this may be the key to evacuating his family to safe ground further inland from the coast of their home as pandemonium reigns all around them.

A Green Beret's Shotgun Review for Preppers | Ready Nutrition

A Green Beret's Shotgun Review for Preppers | Ready Nutrition:

Shotgun Review

The Remington Model 870 is one of the finest slide action shotguns ever produced in the United States.  The 870 was introduced in the early 1950’s.  Now it is available both in 12 and 20 gauges.  The tubular magazine capacity is (3) 3″ Magnum shells or (4) 2 3/4″ shells.  A magazine extension can be employed to give you a higher capacity, and there is a Special Riot-gun model for law enforcement available.
The 870 breaks down very easily for cleaning and servicing, and both of these functions can be accomplished with no difficulty.  Rugged, reliable, and easy to use, the 870 saw service with our troops in the Vietnam War and yielded excellent results especially in CQB (close quarters battle).  The shotgun is readily available with a polymer/synthetic stock, although JJ’s preference is the older models with wooden stocks.
Number 2 on the list (but JJ’s personal favorite) is the Mossberg Model 500 Series.  The 500 was first produced in 1962, and all of the major branches of the United States Armed Forces adopted it for general issue in 1979.  Later an offshoot, the Model 590 back in the late 1980’s, replaced it.  Yes, the 500 is that good; in this author’s opinion, it is the finest shotgun dollar-for-dollar and performance wise that has ever been made.  Barrels for the Model 500 are interchangeable.  Isn’t that a nifty little fact that may help you make a decision?
This pump action shotgun is reliable, I’m here to tell you: it can take a tremendous beating and still perform.  On this take a not: accessorizing is the key to success.  A side mounted “deck” to hold an extra half dozen shells is optimal.  The Model 500 can also be fitted with pistol grips, single point sling, and heat shield.  As mentioned earlier, the ladies will have no trouble at all handling these two excellent pieces once they practice with them and move past the initial experience of the weapon recoil.  Pads for the stock-end are available to help cushion the shoulder.  The reasons these weapons are great for home defense are threefold:
  1. Accuracy: With 00 buck you just point and shoot and hold that shotgun barrel on your target. You’ll be accurate, believe me.
  2. Power: Ladies, King Kong himself coming through the front door will be your doormat after you “zap” that big bug with the 12 gauge. He’ll be down and done: your two goals for engagement.
  3. Noise: Homey will go down, and his buddy-clowns will hear…and then fear…when the Mrs. shows those jerks how a momma bear defends the cave and cubs.
These are great shotguns and excellent for use by the whole family once everyone is familiarized and trained in their use.  They can be employed (as mentioned earlier) for both home defense and for hunting.  Your optimal loads for home defense are 00 Buck and slugs, the latter being better to stop them at a slight distance.  A case of this is where “the Humungous” and crew from “The Road Warrior” are pulling into your driveway and you are in a “Castle Doctrine” State.  Clear on the right and left?  Switch your selector switch to fire…and watch your lanes!
There are also plenty of accessories you can add on to the shotgun, such as attachable and detachable mag lights, laser devices, and IR aids.  Another investment you may wish to make is a good shotgun scabbard that mounts to your rucksack/backpack.  Think of the movie “The Book of Eli” and remember: every second counts.  Ladies and gents, these two shotguns will serve you in good stead.  We at ReadyNutrition would love to hear from any of you who are already using one or both of the models recommended.  Be safe and keep your home and family safer.  Hope these tips help you to do so, and you guys and gals have a great day!

Your (Not So) Safe Deposit Box – LewRockwell.com

Your (Not So) Safe Deposit Box – LewRockwell.com

As I reported recently, banks are beginning to collaborate in the campaign by governments to stamp out the use of cash among the public.  Chase, for example, rolled out a new program in several markets in March that restricts borrowers from using cash for making payments on credit cards, equity lines, mortgages and auto loans.  Even more troubling is Chases’ revised policy governing the use of its safe deposit boxes.  In a letter dated April 1, Chase informed its customers of the new policy, which included the following provision:  “You agree not to store any cash or coins other than those found to have a collectible value.”
Jeff Thomas provides a provocative and worrisome speculative narrative  on this development over at International Man.  According to Thomas, if and when the War on Cash finally succeeds in channeling all  transactions through the banking system,
. . . confiscations [of deposits] will occur. Again, these will be implemented by the banks. But in order to maximise the amount that will be taken, it will be necessary to force people out of other forms of wealth storage and into bank deposits.
Looked at in this light, the otherwise seemingly arbitrary restriction on cash and precious metals in safe deposit boxes makes complete sense. Should a bank perform a confiscation on accounts, whatever was in the safe deposit boxes would remain safe.
And even in a confiscation, banks would be reluctant to raid safe deposit boxes, as they would a) have to force them open, and b) have to deal in some way with the non-monetary contents of the boxes, such as documentation and fine art. To do so would glaringly expose the banks as plunderers (assuming the theft of deposits had not already achieved that end).
Meanwhile, there is a glimmer of hope in the State of Texas, where Texas House Bill HB483 has been passed by both the state house and senate, and now awaits the house vote on the amended senate version.    The bill establishes  a Texas State precious metals depository which would permit Texans to store and pay precious metals to other account holders.  The depository will have a network of agents throughout the state who will accept deposits of  gold, silver, platinum, palladium, or rhodium.  Depositors will also have check writing privileges enabling them to transfer precious metals or their dollar equivalent to third parties outside the banking system.  The comptroller will publish exchange rates among the precious metals as well as between each metal and the U.S. dollar and other currencies but–and this is important–will not establish official exchange rates. Now granted, this is a governmental scheme, even if it is sponsored by the maverick State of Texas, but as one commentator  half-jokingly observed:
Everywhere it [i.e., an electronic gold & silver payments system]  has been tried, the US government has fought it bloody tooth and nail, nationally and internationally, & sought to stop it by criminal prosecutions & regulations.
Now Texas steps forward to make it stick. And if Texas has nerve to carry through, it could make Texas a center of world finance to rival New York and London — Better than Switzerland because it is home to 27,695,284 Texans and all but two of ‘em are armed and serious.

Kefir: The Not-Quite-Paleo Superfood:

Making your own kefir at home

Importance of Gut Bacteria for Neurological Disorders

Importance of Gut Bacteria for Neurological Disorders: Many think Kefir and Yogurt to be the same. Though Kefir and yogurt have similar taste and other similar properties, these two milk products are not the same. In fact they are quite different.

Kefir helps to colonize intestinal tract, which Yogurt cannot. Difference that can be noticed is that Kefir’s yeast and bacteria combination has more nutritional value than Yogurt. Kefir also helps to keep the colon clean and healthy. Kefir contains several major strains of friendly bacteria not commonly found in yogurt, Lactobacillus Caucasus, Leuconostoc, Acetobacter species, and Streptococcus species.

Kefir also contains beneficial yeasts, such as Saccharomyces kefir and Torula kefir, which dominate, control and eliminate destructive pathogenic yeasts in the body. They do so by penetrating the mucosal lining where unhealthy yeast and bacteria reside, forming a virtual SWAT team that housecleans and strengthens the intestines. Hence, the body becomes more efficient in resisting such pathogens as E. coli and intestinal parasites

Considering the digestion, Kefir is more easily digested than Yogurt. As the Kefir curd size is smaller to that of Yogurt, it becomes easier to get digested. This makes it perfect food for the babies and elderly people.

My Encounter with the Connallys - 1992

At
the 1992 version of ASK (The Assassination Symposium on John F.
Kennedy), the final event of the weekend was to be ‘The Dealey Plaza
Walk About’. That was to run from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and there were
maybe ten of us ‘tour guides’ who would take groups of interested
symposium attendees—as well as members of the general public who
happened to find themselves there—on a tour of Dealey Plaza.
It
was perhaps 3:45 p.m. and all the other tour guides were either back at
the hotel, on their way back or wrapping up their last group when I
glanced up towards Old Elm Street. That part of Elm that ran right in
front of the Texas School Book Depository Building and led to the
parking lot which is behind the picket fence atop the infamous ‘Grassy
Knoll’.
A
black Cadillac stretch limousine had pulled up and had parked. Getting
out on the curbside was former Texas Governor John Connally wearing a
white Stetson hat. Moments later, his wife Nellie also
appeared. They had been invited by the ASK organizers for the 2:00 p.m.
‘walk about’ but hadn’t shown up. I hustled up the hill towards the
Governor and his wife, held out my hand and introduced myself.
The
Governor apologized that his aide had written down the time of the
ending of the event instead of the start and he wondered if it was too
late. I explained that all the other guides as well as the organizers
had already headed back to hotel but that I would be honoured to take
them for a brief tour, until it got dark. While it was warm, and it was
Texas, it was still the end of November and the thousands of birds that
call Dealey Plaza home during the evenings were coming in to roost.
As
we strolled slowly across Old Elm and then around the east end of the
triangular block and began walking down the gentle slope of Elm Street, I
could see that the Governor seemed a bit ill-at-ease.
“I guess,” I said, “That every time you come back to this place, the memories are not at all pleasant.”
“Actually,” replied John Connally, “This is the first time that we’ve been here since…since…that day.”
He
hesitated and I could see that even 29 years later, the events of ‘that
day’ were a part of John Connally’s daily life…and always would be.
“Nellie
and I didn’t live here,” he said. “Austin is where the Governor’s
mansion is and then there were the years in Washington. Sometimes I’d
have to be here in Dallas for a dinner or an event, but I never allowed
the car to come anywhere near here.”
Nellie Connally said, “Al, you don’t know how tough it was for me to get John to agree to come here today.”

She squeezed his arm and they looked at
each other and I could see genuine affection that only a combination of
years together and crises weathered can produce.

We continued down Elm Street until we
were right below the concrete pedestal on which Abraham Zapruder and his
secretary Marilyn Sitzman stood while filming the assassination. I
pointed it out to the Connallys, pivoted and turned to face east,
directly at the County Records Building. As I pointed up to the roof of
that building, I said, “That is where the shooter was who shot you. The
bullet entered your back and exited your chest.”

Now I turned to face north and looked
up at the sixth floor of the Book Depository and said, “The top floor of
windows is the seventh, so the next floor down is the sixth. Way over
on the east end is where the Warren Commission said that Lee Oswald
was…but we all know he wasn’t. However someone was in that window.

“The shooter who shot you a second time, was in the…”

“A second time?” John Connally interrupted.
“Yes
sir,” I responded. “That shooter was on the same floor but in the far
west window. While your wife was pulling you towards her, a bullet went
through your right wrist and ended up in your left thigh.”
When I said this, I saw Nellie Connally
elbow her husband in the ribs gently and say,”See, John, I told you
that I felt something hit you when I was pulled you over. Now I have
proof.”

“Mrs. Connally,” I said. “This isn’t
proof, it’s just my take on who was where on that day. I looked at the
wounds on both the Governor and the President as well as the spectator
who was hit way down there by the underpass on Commerce Street. I just
did what a ballistics person would do at any other shooting scene. Work
backwards. Don’t let yourself be swayed by what other people have said
happened. Work it out for yourself.”

“For years,” said Nellie Connally, “I
have believed that John was struck by two shots, but he has insisted
that he felt only one.”

I said, “I think that by the time the
second shot hit, maybe two seconds after the first one, that the
Governor was already in shock and that he wasn’t capable of feeling
anything. He also would have had a loud rushing noise in his ears, so
until he was down in your lap and the car was on its way to the
hospital, he probably couldn’t hear anything either.”

The Governor was silent for a moment and then asked, “Al, how many shooters do you think were firing at us?”

“Six,” I said.

John Connally chuckled a bit and said,
“That’s what shoots you conspiracy buffs down in the press. You always
over-reach. How could that many people keep a secret for almost thirty
years?”

“Governor?” I asked, “Do you remember the armoured car robbery in Boston in the early fifties?”

“Of course,” he said.

“Imagine that you and I are just
chatting about what we’ve done in our lives and I say that I was part of
that armed robbery. Do you honestly think that anyone involved in that
case would say anything to anyone even forty years after the fact?”

“Probably not,” the Governor said after thinking for a few moments.

“Well,” I said, “At the centre of this
event, when you put aside all the theories, trajectories, reports,
obfuscations, misdirections and even outright lies, there is one simple
fact: a homicide occurred. John Kennedy was killed and the statute of
limitations never runs out on murder. So why would anyone risk coming
forward even thirty years later?”

The Governor said nothing but I could see him formulating a reply. “So how many people who were involved, know everything?”

“Everything?” I repeated. “Nobody. It
wouldn’t be safe for anyone to know everything. The same way that covert
operations use ‘cutouts’ and anonymous people to deliver messages and
material, I can’t see anyone even wanting to know everything. That is
except us!”

The three of us laughed at that and I
felt that if I could get John and Nellie Connally to laugh at a place
where one of them was shot and both of them scarred forever, then I did
my job.

“How long have you been interested in the case?” Nellie Connally asked.

“Early
on,” I replied. “I guess I really became interested when I saw Jack
Ruby shoot Lee Oswald on live television from ABC Buffalo, while I
watched from Toronto.”
“Toronto?” the Governor exclaimed. “You mean you are Canadian?”
“Guilty, Governor Connally,” I said.

“Then your early interest in the assassination is even more interesting,” said Nellie Connally.

“So,” said the Governor, “You said that you thought there were six people involved. Where were they?”

“I said that there were six people
shooting at you,” I corrected, “And they were everywhere. My scenario
has the first shot hitting the President in the throat fired from behind
the picket fence. The second, third and fourth shots were almost
simultaneous. One was the shot that hit you, fired from the roof of the
Country Records Building. Another was from the so-called ‘Oswald window’
or ‘sniper’s
nest’ which hit the President in the back. The third of these three
shots was fired from the second floor window of the Dal-Tex Building,
went through the limousine’s windshield and then hit the curbstone down
by the triple underpass and Commerce Street. A fragment either of the
bullet or the curbstone that it hit flew up and slightly wounded a
spectator named James Tague. The next shot was the second shot that hit
you in the wrist and ended up in your left thigh, fired from the west
window on the sixth floor. The final shot is controversial. I believe
that it was fired from this storm drain.”

By
then I had slowly walked the Connallys down Elm Street until we were at
the base of the stairs that led up the ‘grassy knoll’. I moved them
gently to the curb, without stepping into traffic.
“In 1963,” I began, “This opening was a
full eight inches high. Plenty of room for a person to fire a handgun
and the shot was very close. When I first spoke to Bill and Gail
Newman—who were just up Elm Street from here on that day—about eight
years ago, I mentioned to Bill that I had heard a radio interview with
him done on the afternoon of the assassination and that he had said the
last shot ‘sounded different’. When I said this to him, I could see him
replaying the assassination in his mind—as I’m sure that both you and
Nellie, uh, sorry, Mrs. Connally…”

“Al, ‘Nellie’ is just fine,” she
interrupted. “And so is ‘John’. He hasn’t been ‘The Governor’ for a long
time now!” She laughed.

“I kinda liked being called ‘Governor’ again, dear,” said John Connally and smiled at his wife.

“Well Billy Newman said that when he
thought about it now, the last shot did sound different. I asked him if
it was more of a ‘boom’ while the others were more of a ‘crack’ and he
said that was it exactly! I asked him if it could have been fired by a
handgun instead of a high-powered rifle, from underground instead of
from a window and from down to his right, instead of behind him? Newman
looked at me and nodded.”

“Why so many people?” asked Nellie Connally.
“If
each shooter fired only once, he didn’t need to re-acquire his target
and re-aim. It was just pull the trigger and then get the hell outta
here. I bet that the gunman who fired the first shot that hit you was
already off the roof and down the stairs before the limousine went under
the triple underpass. By the time anybody would have thought to look,
the shooters were all long gone. Each one in a different direction. I
also believe that they didn’t even know where the other shooting
locations were either.”
During
our little stroll a few people had recognized the Connallys and had
come over, some asking for autographs, but most just watching from a
distance.
In
all, I spent perhaps thirty to forty minutes with the Connallys and
when it was over and I walked them back to their limousine, John
Connally shook my hand and said. “Son, you’ve given me a lot to think
about today and I thank you for that.”
Nellie Connally also shook my hand and gently kissed my cheek. “Thank you, Al,” was all she whispered.
They
got into the limousine which during our tour had turned around so the
it was now heading east on Old Elm. As the limousine slowly pulled away I
thought about my little brush with history. The first time the
Connallys had been back in Dealey Plaza since the assassination. I
wondered if any of my fellow researchers would believe me when I got
back to the Hyatt Reunion Hotel, but some attendees had seen me with the
Connallys and others had come up for autographs.
When
I got back to the hotel, a few of the researchers had already heard
that the Connallys had finally arrived and that I had been their tour
guide and I got some good-natured ribbing. When I got back to Toronto a
few days later, I roughly wrote down most of the conversation that we
shared as best as I could remember it.
But it wasn’t until 14 years later, with the help of those notes, that I finally put together this little narrative.

How to Expunge a Criminal Record in California: 9 Steps

How to Expunge a Criminal Record in California: 9 Steps

Have you lost out on job opportunities because of a criminal record conviction? A conviction on your record can also be embarrassing and cause stress. There is some good news, though. If you live in California, you may qualify to expunge your criminal record. This means that past convictions will no longer show up on your record. You'll need to determine if you're eligible and fill out the paperwork.

Part 1 of 2: Preparing to File for Expungement

  1. Expunge a Criminal Record in California Step 2.jpg
    1
Know the basic qualifications for expungement. To qualify, you must have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony offense. You must successfully finish probation and not be currently charged with a criminal offense. Also, you can't be on probation or serving a sentence for a criminal offense.
    • In general, you must have successfully completed all your probation to get an expungement. This means you completed all the terms of your probation, attended all required court appearances, and did not commit any new crimes while on probation. You might have also needed to pay fines and restitution, attended counseling, or done community service. [1]
  2. 2
Determine whether you might qualify even if you didn't finish probation. You may still be able to get an expungement. The court will hold a hearing to determine whether to allow this. At the hearing, the judge will consider the following things:[2]
    • your performance while on probation
    • the seriousness of the underlying conviction
    • your criminal history
    • why you think you deserve this relief (such as:your opportunity to get a good job, the fact that you support your family, the fact that you have strong community ties, etc.)
    • any other factors that they deem relevant
  3. 3
Make sure your case does not fall within specific exceptions. If you served time in any California State Prison, you will not qualify for an expungement. Expungement is only for people convicted of a misdemeanor or a felony that could have been charged as a misdemeanor. It is also limited to those sentenced to county jail time, probation, a fine, or a combination of those three.[3]
    • There are also some offenses which you cannot expunge under any circumstances. These include any sexual crime involving a child (including molestation, rape, and sodomy) and statutory rape.[4]
  4. 4
Determine which forms you will need. In California the forms that you must fill out to get an expungement are called PC 1203.4 forms. [5][6] To expunge a misdemeanor, file a Petition to Dismiss a Misdemeanor if you've completed probation. If you haven't completed probation, file a Motion to Terminate Probation or a Petition for Dismissal if the motion isn't granted.[7][8]
    • In the case of a felony in which probation was ordered, you'll need to file under PC § 17(b)(3) to reduce the felony to a misdemeanor. Then you can file a Petition to Dismiss a Misdemeanor or Petition to Dismiss a Misdemeanor. The forms for felony reduction are available at any court location.[9] In the case of a felony in which you were sentenced to prison time but instead served time in county jail, file under PC § 1203.41.[10]

Part 2 of 2: Filing for Expungement

  1. Expunge a Criminal Record in California Step 3.jpg
    1
Get and fill out the forms. Download the necessary forms from the court's website or get them from the court in person.[11] Fill them out completely and accurately.
    • You may want to attach any documents you want to show to the court. These documents can include proof of program or rehabilitation completion. Character reference letters and community service completion paperwork are also often included. They are not required but may be helpful.[12]
  2. Expunge a Criminal Record in California Step 4.jpg
    2
File the forms and pay the fee. File the forms with the court where the offense occurred. Go to the office of the clerk of court with your completed forms and the filing fee.[13]
    • The filing fee varies based on the county where you were convicted and whether you were convicted of a misdemeanor or a felony. For example, San Diego County charges a filing fee of $60 for a misdemeanor and $120 for a felony. Look up the cost in the area you live by visiting the court's website.
  3. 3
Prepare for your hearing. After you file your paperwork, the court will schedule a hearing. It will be up to a judge to decide whether to grant your expungement. Before this hearing, it is a good idea to consult with an attorney about how best to prepare.
    • Before the hearing, the court will notify the prosecutor in your case so that they can file objections to the application for expungement.
    • The prosecutor’s objections will set forth the specific reasons why they claim the expungement should be denied. You will want to have responses prepared to any foreseeable objection.
    • Prepare a statement for the court and make copies of all documents and evidence related to your case that you wish to submit.[14]
  4. Expunge a Criminal Record in California Step 5.jpg
    4
Attend your hearing. Show up on time, dress appropriately, and behave respectfully. Address the judge by his or her formal title ("judge" or "your honor"). At the hearing, the court will either grant or deny the expungement based upon the evidence and arguments presented.[15] There are several things the court will consider when making this decision, such as:
    • Whether you have been charged with or arrested for any more crimes.
    • Your behavior since the offense. This includes your ability to keep a job and pay your bills and debts. It also includes education or job-training you've completed. Judges often will consider community involvement like joining a church or volunteering, too.
    • Any arguments raised by the prosecution .
    • Whether the government has an interest in maintaining your criminal record.
  5. Expunge a Criminal Record in California Step 6.jpg
    5
Re-file if necessary. If the judge denies your petition, ask what you need to do to get your conviction expunged. The judge will tell you why he or she denied the petition, and what you need to do to get the petition granted. After listening to the changes that the judge suggests, make any necessary changes you can.
    • You may re-file your petition 6 months after the original denial, after you have made the changes recommended by the judge.[16]

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on When Earth's Last Picture Is Painted by Rudyard Kipling

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on When Earth's Last Picture Is Painted by Rudyard Kipling:

THE STRANGER
1908

The Stranger within my gate,

He may be true or kind,
But he does not talk my talk—

I cannot feel his mind.

I see the face and the eyes and the mouth,

But not the soul behind.

The men of my own stock,

They may do ill or well,

But they tell the lies I am wonted to,

They are used to the lies I tell;

And we do not need interpreters

When we go to buy or sell.

The Stranger within my gates,

He may be evil or good,

But I cannot tell what powers control—

What reasons sway his mood;

Nor when the Gods of his far-off land
Shall repossess his blood.

The men of my own stock,
Bitter bad they may be,
But, at least, they hear the things I hear,
And see the things I see;
And whatever I think of them and their likes
They think of the likes of me.

This was my father's belief
And this is also mine:
Let the corn be all one sheaf—
And the grapes be all one vine,
Ere our children's teeth are set on edge
By bitter bread and wine.

HUMOR

A psychiatrist was conducting a group therapy session with four young mothers and their small children.

"You all have obsessions," he observed.

To the first mother, Mary, he said, "You are obsessed with eating. You've even named your daughter Candy."

He turned to the second Mom, Ann: "Your obsession is with money. Again, it manifests itself in your child's name, Penny."

He turned to the third Mom, Joyce: "Your obsession is alcohol. This too shows itself in your child's name, Brandy."

At this point, the fourth mother, Carol, quietly got up, took her little boy by the hand, and whispered, "Come on, Dick, this guy has no idea what he's talking about. Let's pick up Peter and Willy from school and go get dinner."

AMERICAN DIGEST Essays, News, Notes, and Quotes

AMERICAN DIGEST Essays, News, Notes, and Quotes: Iceland’s Volcanic Pollution Dwarfs All of Europe’s Human Emissions
To demonise element number six in the periodic table is amusing. Why not promethium? Carbon dioxide is an odourless, colourless, harmless natural gas. It is plant food. Without carbon, there would be no life on Earth.
The original source of atmospheric CO2 is volcanoes. The Earth's early atmosphere had a thousand times the CO2 of today's atmosphere. This CO2 was recycled through rocks, life and the oceans. Through time, this CO2 has been sequestered into plants, coal, petroleum, minerals and carbonate rocks, resulting in a decrease in atmospheric CO2.
The atmosphere now contains 800 billion tonnes of carbon as CO2. Soils and plants contain 2000 billion tonnes, oceans 39,000 billion tonnes and limestone 65,000,000 billion tonnes. The atmosphere contains only 0.001 per cent of the total carbon in the top few kilometres of the Earth. Deeper in Earth, there are huge volumes of CO2 yet to be leaked into the atmosphere. So depleted is the atmosphere in CO2, that horticulturalists pump warm CO2 into glasshouses to accelerate plant growth.
Our planet has about 1,000 volcanoes on land, such as Holuhraun and Bardarbunga, but most of our volcanoes are under the sea. “Some 85 per cent of volcanoes are unseen and unmeasured yet these heat the oceans and add monstrous amounts of CO2 to the oceans,” notes Dr. Plimer. “Why have these been ignored?,” he asks.

Grace in the Blue Ridge Mountains @ AMERICAN DIGEST

Grace in the Blue Ridge Mountains @ AMERICAN DIGEST

The check had come and I'd paid it. They'd filled the restaurant and turned it once since we'd been there. A popular place. A post-post- modern place, a place that was a sterling example of how we live now -- the real and the regional reduced to a remembrance, the communities gated, the homes "maintenance -free." History in a bottle, cleaned, pressed and with the trans-fats removed. Just the way we like it. Traditional in style but tradition-free in content. The experience without the meaning and not missing it.
As I got up to leave the family of six at the long table across from me was served with the quick flourish and satisfied air of presentation that is the style of serving these days. The was food steaming in front of them, but none of them made a move towards it. Instead, they talked quietly amongst themselves and seemed to come to a decision. They made their selection from among them. It was to be one of the daughters, a girl of about 17 I guessed. The din in the restaurant rose and fell, but the family of six sat quietly and then bowed their heads as one. Then they said grace.
I stood motionless at my table. I had, I thought, never seen this before in a restaurant. I'd seen it in private homes to be sure, but upon reflection I realized that I'd not seen it there in quite sometime. And I was quite sure this was, for me, a rare event. I'd probably not been paying attention since it no doubt went on all the time, but still it was a startling moment. Perhaps I'd just been too long in Seattle where the only manifestations of spirit are flimsy; where the invocations are raised to a watery Buddhism or bloodless Unitarianism where God is impossibly distant if at all extant. Be that as it may, this simple act of saying grace did not so much shock me as still me. I paused to listen in. And the daughter did not disappoint.
Her's was no gestural grace -- "Bless this food. Amen. Let's eat." -- but an extended meditation on the good fortune to find oneself among family and before a rich selection of food; an acknowledgment of an unusual level of being blessed by God, and a calling down of God's grace on members of the family present and not present, and ending with a wish that God continue to bless the family, the community, the state and the country. Then, and only then, was "Amen" spoken and the meal begun.
Outside along the Asheville streets, it was a balmy evening. Down the block another restaurant offered "Exceptional International Vegetarian Food," and a shop on the corner sold items imported from Africa whose purchase was purported to help suffering children here and there in that blighted continent. A local freebie paper picked off a stack had decided that a photo of a tribal protest in Santiago, Chile on the Dia de la Raza was important information for the citizens of this part of town. Down in the Asheville hipster-dopester-homeless gulch at a more cut-rate vegetarian restaurant, citizens with shaved heads, "message" t-shirts, multiple facial piercing and full-body tattoos were climbing the stairs in search of a bran muffin, bitching about George Bush, global warming, and their personal collection of STDs while complaining of residual racism in a city that seems more white than Seattle.
The road back to the house in the hills was dark and winding and you had to take it slow. Going back it was nice to know that somewhere, somehow, and for reasons that sometimes challenge all understanding, there were people still asking God to bless America.

AMERICAN DIGEST: Comment on The state of religious freedom in 2015:

The Rank Stranger

I wandered again to my home in the mountain
Where in youths early dawn I was happy and free
I looked for my friends but I never could find them
I found they were all rank strangers to me

Everybody I met seemed to be a rank stranger
No mother no dad not a friend I could see
They knew not my name and I knew not their faces
I found they were all rank strangers to me

They've moved all away said the voice of a stranger
To a beautiful home by the bright crystal sea
Some beautiful day I'll meet them in Heaven
Where no one will be a stranger to me

Curmudgeonly & Skeptical presents Boned Jello

Curmudgeonly & Skeptical presents Boned Jello: Long, long ago - An old Indiana geezer, who had been a retired farmer for a long time, became bored and decided to open a medical clinic based upon his vast knowledge of treating animals.

To stop the skeptics he put a sign up outside that said: "Dr.
Geezer’s clinic - Get your treatment for $5.00, if not cured get back $10.00."

Doctor Young, who was new to the community, and was a recent Eastern medical school graduate, was positive that this old geezer
didn't know beans about medicine and thought that this would be a great opportunity to enhance his reputation in the community and to get an easy $10.00 in the meantime. So he went to Dr. Geezer’s clinic.

This is what happened:

Dr. Young: "Dr. Geezer, I have lost all taste in my mouth, can you please help me?"

Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring the medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in Dr. Young's mouth."

Dr. Young: Aaagh! "This is nothing but coal oil!"

Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your taste back. That will be $5.00."

Dr. Young gets annoyed and goes back after a couple of days figuring to recover his lost $5.00:

Dr. Young: "Doctor, I have lost my memory, I cannot remember anything."

Dr. Geezer: "Nurse, please bring the medicine from box 22 and put 3 drops in the patient's mouth."

Dr. Young: "Oh no you don't! I remember your "box 22" that's coal oil!"

Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You've got your memory back. That will be $5.00."

Dr. Young (After already having lost $10.00) leaves angrily and comes back after several more days.

Dr. Young: "Listen Doctor, my eyesight has suddenly become weak and I can hardly see!"

Dr. Geezer: "Well, I don't have any medicine for that so, here's your $10.00 back."

Dr. Young: "But this is only $5.00!"

Dr. Geezer: "Congratulations! You got your vision back! That will be another $5.00 please."

The moral of the story: Just because you're "Young" doesn't mean that you can out-smart an old "Indiana/Geezer"

proof of christ's divinity

AMERICAN DIGEST Essays, News, Notes, and Quotes: What greater proof of His divinity could there be than the fact that He is still resisted, even hated, after 2,000 years?
Nobody hates Julius Caesar anymore; it’s pretty hard even to hate Attila the Hun, who left a lot of hard feelings in his day. But the world still hates Christ and his Church.
The usual form of this hatred is interesting in itself. For every outright persecutor, there are countless people who pretend not to hate Christ, but subtly demote him to the rank of a “great moral teacher,” or say they have nothing against Christianity as long as the “separation of church and state” is observed, or, under the guise of scholarship, affect to winnow out his “authentic” utterances from those falsely ascribed to him — as if the Apostles would have dared to put words in his mouth! And as if such fabricated words would have proved as durable as “authentic” ones! (Try writing a single sentence that anyone could mistake for a saying of Christ for even a century.)
